Printed by Mourlot in Paris
H77 x W53 cm

1956, France

Picasso painted "Jacqueline with flowers" in 1954, portraying his new love, Jacqueline Roque. Picasso first met Jacqueline Roque in 1953, when she was 27 and she was 72. They married in Vallauris in March 1961 and remained married until Picasso passed away in 1973.
Picasso painted over 400 portraits of Jacqueline, including this one below, "Portrait de Jacqueline Roque aux mains croisées", 1954.

Mourlot was founded in 1852 in Paris by Francois Mourlot. When his son Fernand took over the business in the 1920's, Mourlot quickly became the preferred lithographic printer for the leading Modernist painters of the time. From the 1940's to the 1960's, Picasso produced over 400 lithographs with Mourlot.
