Alicia Tafur (b. 1934, Colombia). Tafur trains in Paris in the 1950's, focusing on wood, metal and ceramics. In 1962, she is awarded the second prize in the sculpture category at the XIV Columbian Artists' fair.
Tafur was part of a group of women artists who were recognized for their avant-garde work. She advocated that women should expand their horizons in society and take an active role in artistic and intellectual fields.
