Jacques Berland (1918-1999, France). Jacques Berland attended the Beaux Arts in Paris in 1946 under the tutelage of Jean Souverbie, whose influence on Berland is visible in the strong lines and colours. Berland stopped painting in 1962, when he was appointed lecturer at the French National Museums. In 2005, Musée Château Saint-Jean in Nogent-le-Rotrou dedicated a retrospective to Berland.
