Alexander Iacovleff (1887-1938) was a Russian neo-classical painter and graphic artist who traveled extensively in Europe and Asia before settling down in Paris in 2018.
In 1924-25, he took part in a Citroen expedition through the Sahara and Equatorial Africa, producing over 300 paintings and drawings of the African people and nature, for which he was awarded the Légion d'Honneur. Examples can be seen below:
